You know I don't speak Spanish!

Another day, another dollar, another year, another country!

When I'm in the States it seems I just don't feel the need to write about what's going on in my life...usually because when I'm in the States I'm not really doing much! Hence the 4 month lapse in my blog. But alas I find myself starting 2009 and doing new things and still wanting to keep in touch with people and stay connected, so my new year's resolution is to blog consistently. (I just made up that resolution about 5 minutes ago)

A very quick recap on the last 5 months...

June, July, August, September, beginning of October were as I wrote in earlier posts. I taught English very lucratively, swam through my street, alley and house during the regular rainstorms and floods, learned to love biking ALL over creation through very dangerous streets, went to the gym every day, spent a lot of time with Jeff and lived pinching every penny and eating donor kebabs for dinner nightly.

I left Hanoi (for good) October 5th and after paying $180 USD in overweight luggage fees to Air Asia (never again!!), traveling 36 hours from Hanoi-BKK-Tokyo-LAX, arrived home mid-morning just in time to make it to get my hair cut, then back home to do some furious laundry, ironing and sleeping before trekking off to SNA the next morning to fly to Toronto for Jeff's brother's wedding! The trip was fantastic but I think that adventure will be a subject of another blog... After a week of Canadia, I was back in California but what to do?

I had decided I wasn't ready for life in North America yet, when I come back I want to be ready for a life of normalcy and I'm just not yet. And so, I began searching for jobs back in Asia, ready to leave at a moment's notice. However, since the worldwide global recession/downturn/chaos/disaster coincided perfectly with my job search, things went a little slower than planned. Jeff came and visited in CA before heading off to Hong Kong for his job search and I decided to job search from the States since I lacked a free place to stay. As the days passed however, it became clear I needed a parttime job and that my family demanded I stay home for Christmas. So November & December became the months of Macy's (ahhhhhh! the horror!) and Christmas extravaganza preparation! Looking back, it was fine although Macy's was horrid, but I really did love the time with my parents and the normalcy of home (present wrapping, cookie making, dog walking, etc).

December 26th found me hopping a plane to Hong Kong and December 27th found me back in Asia!
