"I hate so much the things you choose to be about" or "HR is evil"

"The documents must be in English. Have them translated in Hong Kong."

In addition to all the wonderful meals and time with Jeff's friends and family, I've also been trudging along in my job hunt. I had been offered an English teaching position in Singapore based on the color of my skin and hair, which I had tentatively accepted but I didn't really want to be there just to teach more English. So I had also been pursuing a job with my old law office's branch in Singapore since October and lo and behold the position was still open so I made a trip down to Singapore Jan 4-8 to interview and talk with some people.

I stayed with my friend Steven from gtown who was home on Christmas break from Oxford and the interview went well. Maybe a little bit more junior of a position than I had hoped, but the economic climate doesn't allow me to be choosy. So I've taken the position of "business development coordinator" and I start February 2nd! Since the decision a few days ago, HR has been making my life a living nightmare with all the superfluous paperwork they're requesting for the employment pass. It's even been told to me that they need my diploma from gtown scanned, translated from latin by a official translator and sent to them! They said to go to the relevant embassy to get an official translation. WHERE THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO GO????? GAH! SO, I'm working through that frustration and hopefully poor Dad will be okay with scanning my diploma and hopefully there will be a translation included somewhere.

So now life is paperwork and looking for housing and a job for Jeff in Singapore! Dr & Mrs Wong left today which makes them officially the last of the visitors to leave, so the free meals will unfortunately stop immediately.

But I am definitely looking forward to Chinese New Year (Jan 26th) in Hong Kong! And a bit of last minute sightseeing before I leave HK, a place that I actually didn't expect to enjoy but really do like it!!
