This is how this should end, but instead it's going at the beginning...
"And then I found five dollars."
It's been four months since I've written. Believe me, I've tried. Many times I've signed on to update but unfortunately the internet for our Doi Can house blocks all blogging websites. A little gift from the Vietnamese government!
So let's hit the highlights:
1) Winter in Ha Noi was crazy cold, as previously discussed.
2) I went to Cambodia via HCMC for Tet Holiday with Judith, Annie, Melissa, Jeff and Sarah. Angkor Wat was impressive, HCMC was great -- almost no problems and it was wonderfully hot! I'll try to find my email update about it to post...
3) Returning from Tet found Hilary in Hanoi and I trained her to fill my position at work. It was good timing, I was ready to not be working there anymore! So the rest of the time I had intended to travel before my family trip to Africa, but really I had run out of money...so
4) I met Meghan in BKK for a week and I crashed with her in THE FOUR SEASONS! It was great, I went to the pool everyday and we explored the city. Got suits made, saw prostitutes (ugh), met up with Tyler, I had free alcohol given to me...I love BKK.
5) The rest of the time until the end of March I hung out in Hanoi and went to the gym :)
6) I met up with my family in South Africa March 28th and we visited Kruger Natl Park, Victoria Falls in Zambia, Zimbabwe for an elephant safari, Botswana's Chobe Natl Park and the Okavango Delta. We saw SO MANY animals and it was really fun to have the whole family together. By the end of it I never wanted to see another animal again. Ever.
7) After that extravaganza I met up with Kate in BKK again and arrived on the first night of the Thai NEW YEAR! complete with a massive water/rice porridge fight/orgy! it was insanity. we then went south to koh phi phi and had an island paradise adventure.
8) from bkk i went back to hanoi for 2 days then back to LAX. i got lasik eye surgery and we stayed at my aunt and uncles house since our house flooded while we were in africa.
9) then in the end of april i went back to the east coast for an interview for a govt job, saw all the people in dc and then went up to boston to see the rest! it was a wonderful trip...
10) so NOW im back in SC, doing paperwork and errands and slowly going crazy. i have 11 days left and i cant imagine surviving...
wow. that's a lot.
